Tree Nursery Park Softball Complex
The development of the Tree Nursery Park Softball Complex involved the clearing and grubbing of 17 acres of former Ministry of Natural Resources Tree Nursery land, and the construction of two softball fields complete with specialized infield and warning track surface mixes, backstops, and line and outfield fencing. Two additional field areas were prepared for future softball field use. The stripping and stockpiling of approximately 11,000 cubic metres of topsoil took place, prior to the cut and fill balancing of 26,000 cubic metres of fill material. Infrastructure work on the project included the installation of 170 metres of a 200mm diameter watermain, and 45 metres of 100mm diameter watermain. These were used to service the field irrigation systems, as well as the Amenity Building which was constructed by our forces on the project. A 330 metre long electrical duct bank was also brought into the site to provide the power source for the field lighting and the Amenity Building. The Amenity Building consisted of full service Men’s and Women’s washroom facilities, a large Mechanical Room and Storage Room, as well as full Kitchen facilities for Concession Stand use. An Eco-Flow septic system was installed to handle the sanitary waste of the building.
